@ Reply to Tweets from FriendFeed
I would like to be able to reply to tweets coming via friendfeed.com. They currently don't have a 'reply' button!
Tweet that come in via FriendFeed only or via both twitter and FriendFeed (then de-duped) do not have a 'reply' button. This is a technically challenging problem to solve and are looking at ways to fix this issue.

links in twitter updates should be "clickable"?
plannedWhy can't I click the links that people have added in alerts?
This is a technically hard problem to solve and we are currently working on a solution.

Fix the renotifications
startedAlertThingy is not updating correctly according to the actual twitter timeline. But aside from that, I keep getting the top tweet notified to me every 5 minutes.
Due to changes made at 'twitter' if you are in some time zones you may fined that your timeline is misaligned with that of FriendFeed. We are looking at ways to solve this issue

Alert Thingy ignoring default browser setting.
startedI'm using firefox as a default browser. But when I click Alert Thingy's link (update, config, etc) IE shows up :/ It should be respect user's default settings.
This should fix your problem if you are using vista:
To correct this issue, set the default browser using the following steps:
- Select Start > Default Programs > Set Program Access And Computer Defaults.
- Click Continue in the Security Alert dialog box, if it appears.
- Select Custom, and then select your preferred browser under Choose A Default Web Browser; click OK.

Let me select individual services
I'd like to be able to select the feed from each individual service, like I can on the FriendFeed site, so I can view (for example) my friends' latest Flickr activity.
This is possible - It will need more votes though :)

"Show" Alert Thingy with a double click
startedAt the moment the right-click and select show on windows, or push and hold the dock icon and select show in OSX is a bit clunky.
We are working on this one and it should be fixed in the next release!

Collapse/Expand all entries
Some items (especially those that attract a heap of comments) can take up most of the screen. I would like to see the ability to collapse/expand all entries (default options set to either expand all, or collapse all).
If each item could be collapsed to 1-2 lines (source, who it's from, time, title or first 60 chars etc.), that will let us see a lot more info on the screen at once... which if you're following a lot of people will make the task of sorting through the noise a heck of a lot easier.

Would like to set the update speed.
5min updates is too slow for me. I would like to be able to adjust how often the application updates.
We plan on improving the update speed!

fix the timestamps and ordering of alerts.
startedRight now my topmost alert in Alert Thingy is a Twitter message with the time 22:53. That message was sent at about 14:53 PDT (local), 21:53 UTC. A message sent at 15:48 PDT (by someone actually in EDT) is actually stamped 15:48 in Alert Thingy, so it's lower down in the list despite being sent more recently.
I suspect the cause has something to do with the tweets coming from Twitter having a different timestamp than the tweets coming from FriendFeed (and Twitter and de-duped, probably.)
Please investigateand advise. Thank you!

stop alertthingy bouncing to the top notification on refresh
startedwhen alertthingy refreshes it bounces you to the latest notification. if i'm scrolling through to check out what's been happening this is annoying as i then need to scroll back through to find out where i go to (to then carry on looking). it should just stay put where it is, and if you want to show something to indicate that there are new alerts then that's cool.

Username-based Group Based Views
So Twitter and Friendfeed dont support groups, doesn't mean the client app cant! :)
I want the ability to create groups, and assign people I follow to those groups, across both Friendfeed and Twitter contacts.
I kinda imagine this as being able to right click on a Tweet/update or the username of the person the tweet/update came from, then it saying something like "assign to group" with a foldout of the groups I made to choose from.
Alertthingy would then always associate that users Tweets/Updates with that group.Every user would have an associated group name somewhere nearby, perhaps in small letters underneath the username.
You can then choose different views to watch. the general view would be the default, and show all updates, and you could "tab" easily between groups. This would give us all some level of control over all the stuff we follow. And this can extend to any other service AlertThingy chooses to support.
Interesting suggestion. It would be nice to hear some other users perspective on this one.

Add preference for disabling alert pop-up
The alert pop-up can be overly distracting when I'm working. There should be a way to disable it.

Let me control the feed for each service
Like Facebook's Story slider bars -- see this: http://tinyurl.com/2vw2cg
Great idea! - For the moment you can play with the FriendFeed 'hide' functionality (on their site) to get some control over feeds.

take Flickr support one further
Wouldn't it be great if I could drag a picture in, have it upload to flickr, create a tinyurl, and post it to twitter? That would be awesome.
We think we are close to that already! Flickr upload will already give you a tiny URL back at the end of an upload. So all you really need to to paste into twitter.

add option to turn on/off twitter sms based on idle time
It would be nice with the possibility to have Alert Thingy enable Twitter SMS delivery (added to the API recently) when idle on the computer. Once back at the computer, SMS delivery is turned off again.

add real-time updates to twitter messages like Google Talk

Add FriendFeed logo to updates like other services
There is currently no icon there. Is there a reason why FriendFeed updates have no icon next to them like all the other services? Please add this feature. I would like to see where each update is coming from clearly. Color icons would be nice too.

make the alert toast/notification clickable
when an alert pops up in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen i want to be able to click on it to open it up immediately (so it clicks through to the page, exactly as a click on a tweet/update in the alertthingy app does). currently it's non-clickable, which makes it a faff to access stuff that i want to check out.

Support larger font sizes!
On large monitors, and especially with Asian languages, it is very hard to read text at the default font size. Why not allow users to choose their own font size?

Color service icons (instead of grey) next to each update
Instead of having grey icons next to each update can you use full color icons that resemble the official logos of the services. Maybe this can be offered just as an option for those who may like it to stay as is for asthetic reasons. I personally would like to be able to easily identify the service whether it be flickr, Netflix, Amazon, twitter, or whichever service, in their unique color logos.

add a different format for @ replies of Twitter posts to me
Right now it is hard to see if a post is just part of the stream of news or directed at myself. I would love to have replies directed at me standing out, maybe by being bold or by inverting the color scheme or something.

have an option for twitter text box on the bottom
It just an asthetic issue. I am just used to finding a text box on the bottom. Maybe this feature can be added as a choice.
We don't see ourself as a just twitter FriendFeed & Flickr client which is why we went for the drop down approach. Perhaps it will make more sense as we build out the app.

Switch to/offer option of Twhurl for sharing links
Twurl is a much more useful URL shortening service, especially since it offers basic statistics like how many clicks each link gets, and the most-clicked links a user has shared. TinyURL doesn't seem interested in innovating anymore, while more useful and integrated services like Twurl are.

Cannot move window to top edge of screen (OS X)
In OS X (Leopard) I cannot move the Alert Thingy window to the top edge of the screen. It "stops" about 1/8 inch from the top edge (bottom of menu bar). A simple thing, certainly not critical, but still drives me nuts.
This problem is caused by the Adobe AIR container that the application sits inside. We can probably get this down to 1/16 inch. However There is no quick fix for this solution. As a designer, this also drives me nuts :) ...and will continue to look for a solution.

make it optional for new comments to trigger updates
New comments don't actually prompt a sound or popup alert! However they do rise to the top of a list. However more granular control over the app should come as we build out functionality.

fix bug: I can't authenticate, won't accept my password.
I get the pop up box to enter my username and pw and when I enter it, it just blinks and goes right back to the password box. It will not accept my password.
The popup box is coming from the FriendFeed site and is not actually anything to do with the app. It is very confusing and something we can't suppress at the moment. It appears when the info you have entered in incorrect.
When you get this box, you need to close it and check you have entered the correct username and 'Remote Key' in the app.
REMINDER: You need to enter your 'Remote Key' NOT password! You can get your 'Remote Key' by clicking the 'Get Remote Key' link on the settings panel).

Add option to show only most recent comments
I have noticed that the comments feature from FriendFeed has had a mixed response regarding how it is rendered in AlertThingy.
Here is my recommendation. When a new comment is posted FriendFeed should have an option to just show the most recent comment that has moved it to the top of the list of updates and hide the rest.
Showing all the comments on a long comment thread will bury all the rest of the updates and create an endless list to scroll. To resolve this I recommend an option to show just the most recent comment, that way we know what pushed that post to the top of the list.To see the rest of the comments we can use the button as usual.

bug: changing from TinyURL to Alerts
Changing from TinyURL to Alerts doesn't hide the TinyURL input area. For any other tab it get's replaced. It would be better to hide that area when clicking on Alerts. (Or at least highlight the TinyURL button as long as it's visible.)
